Pani Clean received a new SBIR Phase I award from USDA NIFA for the development of its particulate-type photocatalytic reactors for converting nitrates into nitrogen and co-generating hypochlorite as a disinfectant using light as the major input to drive the reactions.
Pani Clean previously received two USDA SBIR awards for Phase I and Phase II on the development of a hybrid electrodialysis/electrolysis system that removes nitrates and instantly converts them into nitrogen and ammonia. The key differentiator between the two innovations are on the system components, the light inducing reaction mechanism and the co-generation of disinfectant that are newly introduced in the third award. The new SBIR Phase I project will be carried out simultaneously with the ongoing USDA SBIR Phase II project.
