IOWA CITY, Iowa—March 12, 2024— Pani Clean, a women-owned enterprise that addresses climate change with innovative clean water technology, announced today that Joe Zuback, a noted expert in the water technology industry, is joining the company’s board of directors. Zuback’s experience will be instrumental in guiding Pani Clean as it presents its clean technology to the water treatment market.

As a startup, Pani Clean has developed an innovative process powered by renewable energy that converts nitrate pollutants—a negative-value feedstock—into valuable ‘green’ ammonia. This transformation of pollutants into usable chemicals through a sustainable solution advances a green circular economy. The green ammonia produced can serve as both a fertilizer and a potential energy source. The company is set to soon launch a pilot proof-of-concept of this technology.

Joun Lee, founder and CEO of Pani Clean, stated, “Pani Clean is focused on clean water technology and contributes to the industry with our environmental sustainability successes and economic growth. Meeting the global demand for green ammonia represents a win-win.”

Zuback has provided consulting services for the past 15 years via his business Global Water Advisors, LLC as a hands-on business and technology development expert in the water industry, advising start-up and early-stage companies, investors, and government agencies around the world. He previously served as Chief Technology Officer at Siemens Water Technologies and in various senior management roles for US Filter. His extensive water industry experience will help Pani Clean develop key strategies for the future of the company and the growth of its technology.

“Our team holds great respect for Joe and is thrilled to have access to his many years of exceptional experience and knowledge,” said Lee. “Joe brings over 45 years of water industry experience to the board, instilling great confidence in his vision to position Pani Clean in a space where it can truly impact the industry. We are honored to have a board director of such caliber join our team.”
