Dr. Joun Lee, CEO of Pani Clean, attended the Innovation Driven Water Sustainability (IDWS) conference held in Jeddah from December 8–10, 2025, sponsored by the Saudi Water Authority. IDWS is an international conference dedicated to advancing water sustainability through innovation, bringing together global companies, ministries, investors, and other key stakeholders to foster meaningful collaboration across the sector.
During the conference, Dr. Lee delivered a technical briefing titled “kW-Scale Electrochemical Nitrate-to-Ammonia Water Treatment for Clean Water and Fertilizer Recovery.” Her presentation addressed the global challenges posed by nitrate contamination and highlighted Pani Clean’s pilot project, funded by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and currently operating at the Iowa City wastewater facility. She shared the technology’s potential to reduce disposal burdens and treatment costs for high-strength nitrate wastewater while generating ammonia as a valuable byproduct for local agriculture and clean energy applications.
